Testing Advice and Procedure for Consultation

We are working hard to protect our patients, staff and GP’s from COVID-19.

There is a world-wide shortage of pathology consumables and the following testing advice is in place:

COVID-19 testing should only occur if:

  • You have Fever or acute respiratory symptoms and travelled overseas within the previous 14 days, or had recent close contact (previous 14 days) with a confirmed case of COVID-19.
  • Severe community-acquired pneumonia requiring admission with no other identifiable cause.

PATIENTS WHO PRESENT WITH COLD AND FLU-LIKE SYMPTOMS, WHO DO NOT MEET THE ABOVE CRITERIA, SHOULD NOT BE TESTED FOR COVID-19 AND WILL BE ASKED TO RETURN TO THEIR CAR AND PHONE 5482 5899.

WE EMPHASISE THAT YOU WILL STILL BE SEEN, BUT NOT IN OUR MAIN CLINICS.

We have special clinics called ‘containment clinics’ for those patients who have coughs, sneezing, sore throat, shortness of breath or fevers.

If you have any one of these symptoms: Phone: 5482 5899 to book into these clinics.

Patients considered vulnerable or at risk
  • People isolating themselves at home on the advice of a medical practitioner, in accordance with home isolation guidance issued by the AHPPC, and people who meet the current national triage protocol criteria for suspected COVID-19 infection after consultation with either the national COVID-19 hotline, state COVID-19 hotlines, registered medical or nursing practitioner or COVID-19 trained health clinic triage staff.
  • People aged over 70
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged over 50
  • People with chronic health conditions or who are immunocompromised.
  • Parent with new babies and people who are pregnant

WE TAKE YOUR HEALTH SERIOUSLY AND ASK THAT YOU PHONE RECEPTION TO BOOK A TELEPHONE/TELEHEALTH CONSULTATION RATHER THAN COME INTO THE PRACTICE.

WE ASK THAT YOU HELP US TO HELP YOU AND SLOW DOWN THE SPREAD OF THE CORONAVIRUS.  SHOULD THE PRACTICE BE REQUIRED TO GO INTO QUARANTINE, SERVICES WILL BE LIMITED.
